Signature Academic Programs
The College of Charleston Signature Academic Programs Committee seeks applications for academic programs that align with Pillar 2, Academic Distinction, of the Strategic Plan: “Tradition & Transformation.
Submission Deadline: February 15, 2023
Section I
Criteria to qualify as a Signature Academic Program:
- Candidate programs must currently be established or emerging as a potential signature academic program (new, planned or significantly revised academic program).
- All applications must be vetted at the school level and approved by the dean before submission to the committee.
- Signature academic programs must align closely with the institution’s strategic plan, “Tradition & Transformation”:
- a. Be specific to the needs and goals of the state/institution.
- b. Include experiential components, e.g.: community engagement; service learning; undergraduate research; study abroad.
- c. Be financially feasible and sustainable.
- Signature academic programs must show evidence of regional or national significance:
- a. Strong record of job or graduate placement.
- b. Nationally recognized faculty.
- c. Regional/national awards/recognitions.
- Signature academic programs must work closely with admissions, marketing, and development:
- a. Attract students and community members.
- b. Bring positive attention to the institution.
- c. Help with recruitment.
- d. Help with fundraising.
